The problem
Homes can become empty for all sorts of reasons.
Long term empty homes can cause significant problems for neighbours, and dealing with empty properties can be costly for local councils. At the same time, we have a chronic shortage of housing.
Our solution
Our Empty Homes Doctors work alongside Leeds City Council to contact the owners of empty properties, understand why their home is empty, and then help them to bring the home back into use.
Our impact
Since 2013 we have helped to bring over 900 empty houses back into use as homes. We have created homes, settled hundreds of thousands of pounds of care and council tax debt, increased the amount of New Homes Bonus for the Council, and dealt with homes that were an eyesore in local communities.
